Our Approach to Clients All businesses are unique – their products, services, markets, cultures – and most importantly, their people. At Samuel R. James and Associates, our primary focus is on the people involved in a changing situation, and not just the organization's change as a whole. Our work is a blending of intensive Personal Coaching and Organization Development efforts.
We have tremendous respect for senior executives and the complexities of their roles and the ways that they manage those complexities to be successful. And, we believe that the people who are involved in the process are the ones who create effective change design and the implementation of it. That is why our work focuses on helping managers and senior leaders gain clarity and direction on their goals and roles, and ways of interacting within their own groups.
We are experienced at gathering in-depth information and collecting data about individuals and their organizations, but our real added value is the ability to bring those factual pieces together and work collaboratively with our clients to uncover how it impacts their positions and ultimately their success as managers and leaders.
Samuel R. James and Associates understands that anyone who is in a position of senior management or leadership within an organization has a certain level of need for control. We respect that need and balance it against his or her job requirements. We have the unique ability to bring to bear a “sequenced honesty” that allows us to get to the important questions at the right time. Our thirty plus years of experience gives us the ability to understand people's strengths and weaknesses, and the insight to know at what pace to go with someone in order to draw them out and talk with them truthfully and meaningfully about their personal and professional world.
The learning of skills for most people is not difficult; implementing those skills, being out on the front-lines, bearing the pressure, sitting with other powerful people, having a voice, tolerating the tension of political arenas, and maintaining the discipline to have a balance between work and family – these are psychological issues. We understand that it is just as important to get at key information through the heart as well as the head. We firmly believe that the mastery of the business world is not just a tactical mastery, but a psychological one as well.
With this in mind, we look to strike a balance between the goals of the individual and the process that the leadership peruses to meet the goals of the organization. |
